Description Gutter Solution Type A Solution #1 is a cover that sits on top of the floor. In this case, rod spacers underneath the cover prevent it from shifting out of position. Solution #2 is a cover that rests on the legs. With this in mind, at least two inches of space should be between the frame of the cover and the floor of the run. This makes it easy to rinse animal feces without having to remove or lift the gutter cover. In fact, both solutions can be made just wide enough to cover the gutter or wide enough for a resting bench for the patient. This will provide a high, dry, and warm place to lie. When the gutter is in the back of the run with a ledge next to the wall use Gutter Type A. Gutter Solution Type B In this case, the ledge was put there to support a gutter cover. In this circumstance the solution is simple. A piece of mesh is cut to fit in the available opening. No frame or legs are needed. This is convenient if the gutter is outside the run where people and animals are walking. Because the top of the Type B cover rests flush with the floor, tripping is prevented. If the gutter is extra wide or takes unusually heavy traffic, the Type B cover can also be made with a frame or support. Gutter cover Type B can be manufactured with or without RACS support to fit on customers’ gutter ledge. Gutter Solution Type C There is no ledge in the gutter to rest the back legs of a bench-type cover. Placing a gutter cover with legs into these gutters is not recommended. First of all, these gutters are sloped to enhance water and waste movement to a drain. Therefore, this creates an almost impossible task of varying leg lengths so the cover sits in the gutter properly. Secondly, the legs in the gutter become dirty with waste and prevent the free flow of matter to the drain. Our solution to this is a resting bench-type gutter cover accompanied by two separate “J” hooks. Holes in the hooks allow them to be bolted into the back wall. The front legs of the Type C gutter cover sit on the run floor. The back of the gutter cover is supported by wall-mounted hooks.
